A sexy test shoot with first time model, Connie. She posed in lingerie (bra and panties), and a bikini. My intern Ruth was there with us. I find that having somebody else present at a first time shoot with a new model is very helpful. One of the most important things about model photography is getting good expressions from the model. Having somebody else around helps put models at ease.
For the photographers following along, here’s the equipment I used. Pretty standard for my beauty and fashion work:
- Nikon D80
- Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D - my favorite lens for portraits
- 2 SB-600 Speedlights mounted to stands and triggered via CLS
- Manfrotto boom stand with umbrella elbow and a 32″ bounce umbrella
- 72″ oval reflector, mounted to a stand with a superclamp and an umbrella elbow to mount an SB-600 for bouncing

Heh. I came, I saw, I left.
Great advice on having people there. There’s something about having other people there that can really break an odd feeling. Good call!
